Committee Description

The Scientific Document Committee (SDC) of the Asian Heart Society (AHS) serves as the Society's core intellectual engine, entrusted with the critical mission of advancing cardiovascular science, education, and clinical practice across Asia. Our primary academic tasks are:

Development of Authoritative Clinical Practice Guidelines and Expert Consensus Statements: To synthesize the highest quality, most current scientific evidence with expert clinical experience to create practical, evidence-based guidelines and consensus documents. These documents address prevalent cardiovascular diseases, emerging challenges, and region-specific healthcare needs within Asia, aiming to standardize and optimize patient care.
Rigorous Scientific Review and Knowledge Synthesis: To systematically review, evaluate, and interpret cutting-edge cardiovascular research from global and regional studies. The committee translates complex scientific findings into clear, actionable summaries, position papers, and scientific advisories for the broader medical community.
Fostering Research and Defining Priorities: To identify key gaps in knowledge and unmet needs in cardiovascular medicine within the Asian context. The committee stimulates and guides research initiatives, encourages collaborative studies across the region, and helps define future research agendas tailored to Asian populations.
Dissemination and Education: To ensure the wide dissemination of the committee's documents through official AHS publications, conferences, webinars, and educational workshops. The SDC plays a pivotal role in educating healthcare professionals, updating their knowledge, and facilitating the implementation of best practices.
Collaboration and Representation: To collaborate with other AHS committees, national and international cardiology societies, and health organizations. The SDC represents the AHS in scientific matters, contributes to global guideline efforts, and ensures the Asian perspective is incorporated into worldwide cardiovascular discourse.
