Dr. Tatsuya Morimoto (Japan)
Dr. Tatsuya Morimoto, MD, PhD is a highly cited medical researcher and professor who is currently at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Toho University, Tokyo, Japan.
Dr. Tatsuya Morimoto graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto University and received his MD license in 1992. He completed his Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University in 2000. From 2000 to 2004, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Cancer Biology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, USA. He then served as Chief at the Institute for Production Development from 2004 to 2007, and subsequently as Chief at the Division of Translational Research, Kyoto Medical Center, National Hospital Organization, from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, he was appointed Professor at the Division of Molecular Medicine, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Shizuoka.
He specializes in pharmacology and cardiovascular diseases. He is internationally recognized for his research on how curcumin (found in turmeric) can inhibit p300 histone acetyltransferase activity to prevent heart failure.
